About the Author
Ekaette Kern is a dedicated author and advocate for diversity and inclusion in children's literature. Growing up in a multicultural family, Ekaette developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of diverse backgrounds and identities.
Inspired by her own experiences and driven by a desire to empower her daughter Shiloh, who is biracial, Ekaette embarked on a heartfelt journey to create a children’s book series that celebrates diversity and encourages children to embrace their unique identities with confidence and pride.
Ekaette's passion for storytelling is rooted in her upbringing and the values instilled by her mother, Elizabeth Jones. The book series is dedicated to Elizabeth, whose love, guidance, and unwavering support continue to inspire Ekaette's work.
About the Book
"The Colors of Me" is a heartwarming tale that celebrates the beauty of being biracial and encourages children to embrace their unique identity with pride and confidence. Through Shiloh's journey of self-discovery, young readers learn valuable lessons about diversity, acceptance, and the richness of multicultural backgrounds.
About the Illustrator
Adriel is a Canadian-American illustrator and animator from Montreal. Upon finishing an MFA in animation from the University of Southern California, he has worked at studios such as Nickelodeon, Disney TV , and Sony Animation on the hit shows Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Monster High, and Bubble Guppies. Adriel has also become known for directing the animated short film, Camp Kona, and for his published works as a children's books illustrator.
